Kathy is here to answer your menopause questions by email. She also provides consultancy advice to Sylk to ensure we remain up to date on what is happening in the medical world about the menopause and specifically atrophic vaginitis.
Kathy Abernethy is a specialist menopause nurse. As well as working in the NHS, she speaks and writes regularly about the menopause to both women and health professionals. She has extensive experience of advising women on how best to cope with the changes that occur around the time of the menopause and on how to live healthily into the years beyond. She has an enthusiasm for enabling women to be well informed partners in healthcare discussions and works to ensure that health professionals are well informed about women's issues including the menopause and atrophic vaginitis.
Kathy is Chair of the UK Menopause Nurse Group and Council member of the British Menopause Society, both societies for health professionals working in menopausal health. Kathy runs courses for nurses who work with women to ensure that they are well informed about menopausal issues and so are better placed to help women suffering vaginal dryness and other menopause problems.
